The article I published in 24.02.2020 Conor McGregor net worth in 2020 – how much and how the Notorious has made it does not make too much sense in my personal blog.

It is an SEO experiment I am running to see how well can duplicate content rank on Google.

I am sure a lot of SEOs are wondering this, but I did not find any good research on the topic, so decided to do a test myself.

As you can see on the original post, it was made from copy/paste infromation from the top ranking sites for the term at the time of the publication (so end of Feb 2020).

What I did is just get the H2/H3 and change them just a little bit but keep the meaning and semantics and then I literally copy pasted the paragraphs.

It took like 3 months for the article to rank. Keep in mind to keep the experiment fair, I did not build any links to it (first internal link to it is from this article), it is on a very weak domain with only 10 refering domains and cctld.

So here are the results after 3 months with no links and the setup above

Maybe it is worth mentioning it started ranking for kws a little before and after the May 5th Google update.

Here is the data from search console for the period and the ranking of the keywords and their positions for the last 7 days.

Now today, on 22 May 2020 I will begin phase 2 of the experiment.

What I will do is syndicate the very same article in 5 different self blogging platforms with high DR, index them and monitor the rankings for the next 2 weeks.

Then I will post the results from search console again and see if there is a change in the rankings.

12 June Update

So I slacked a bit and inserted the links on the syndicated articles on the 28th. Ran them trough indexer and all were indexed on 29th of May. So here are the results so far:

Impressions in search console started raising on the 31st of May steadily.

Positions on the other hand are about the same give or take 2 weeks after the link experiment.

The next thing I am about to do is make a small twitter style post with a naked link and syndicate that to 140 social networks. I am going to index those links too and monitor the rankings in the next 2 weeks.

The social links were with noindex follow tag so nothing indexed and nothing in the console, so I found and added 41 new syndication links that should be indexed. Ran them trough an indexer today, will check in a few days.
